The market is not yet in a credit crisis. It is in something more interesting: the cost of long-term capital has risen enough to begin disciplining the AI buildout and the sovereign financing system at the same time. Gold is reacting before conventional easing arrives, Bitcoin’s liquidity clock has moved ahead of the old cycle calendar, and equities are beginning to separate according to capital efficiency rather than AI narrative alone. There are moments when markets stop behaving according to the story investors have been using to explain them. Those moments matter because the anomaly is usually more informative than the trend.
This is one of those moments.
Gold has broken sharply higher even though long-term interest rates remain restrictive. Bitcoin has moved before the conventional easing cycle we once thought it would need. The dollar has weakened from its hawkish-squeeze highs. At the same time, VIX and broad high-yield credit still look far calmer than a genuine financial accident should look. If this were simply an inflation scare, gold should be struggling under high real rates. If it were simply a growth scare, long Treasuries should be acting like the haven. If it were already a fiscal crisis, credit and volatility should look much worse.
The missing piece is the price of duration.
The United States is trying to finance two enormous projects at the same time. The first is the federal government itself: persistent deficits, a vast stock of debt that must be refinanced, growing interest expense, defense spending and industrial policy. The second is the AI buildout: data centers, accelerators, memory, power generation, transformers, cooling, networking, construction and the increasingly large amount of debt and outside capital required to finance it.
Both ultimately arrive at the same market. Both need investors willing to lock money away for years. When the amount of long-term capital demanded rises faster than the amount investors willingly supply at yesterday's price, the yield has to rise until the market balances.
That sounds abstract. It is not. The long-term yield determines what a mortgage costs, what a data center must earn to justify being built, how expensive it is for a hyperscaler to issue another bond, what a software company's future profits are worth today and how much interest the federal government pays to refinance itself. It changes whether Japanese institutions prefer Treasuries or domestic JGBs. It changes the opportunity cost of holding gold. And it changes which AI projects survive once money is no longer cheap.
The AI boom was born in a world where capital could mostly be treated as background infrastructure. That era is over. AI is becoming physical, and physical AI has to compete with every other borrower for capital. The market is now discovering the yield at which the government's financing needs, the AI industry's financing needs and global investors' willingness to absorb duration begin to conflict.
The anomaly that matters
The important signal is not any one asset. It is the combination:
- long yields remain high;
- the dollar is softer than during the June hawkish shock;
- gold is strong;
- Bitcoin has repriced earlier than our old cycle map expected;
- semiconductor leadership has become rate-sensitive;
- yet broad credit remains relatively calm.
That combination says the cost of capital is uncomfortable, but the system is still absorbing it. This is why our base case is not an immediate fiscal crisis and not an immediate melt-up. It is a period of selection: expensive capital begins distinguishing productive investment from speculative investment before liquidity disappears altogether.

The value of reviewing an old forecast is not to defend it. It is to find out where the model actually failed.
Between June and July, Mastermind published a series of reports arguing that the first stage of the AI boom had become dangerously crowded, that the physical buildout would continue, that leadership would migrate toward power and infrastructure, and that the dollar/debasement cycle would eventually turn. A surprising amount of that held up. What did not hold up was the sequence.
The broad calls that worked
Our earlier work correctly argued that AI infrastructure spending was not ending. Capital continued moving into power, electrical equipment, networking and the physical systems required to convert model demand into usable compute. We were also right that the Magnificent Seven would stop behaving like one trade; the difference between Microsoft, Meta, Alphabet, Nvidia and Apple increasingly comes down to how each company finances AI investment and how much cash remains after the spending.
We were right that semiconductor and memory equities had become dangerously crowded. Korea later demonstrated exactly why. We were right to keep the structural gold thesis alive after the June washout, and we were right that Bitcoin accumulation should begin before a perfect cycle low rather than wait for one capitulation print everyone could see coming. We were also directionally right that Hong Kong technology could behave better than the bleak story told by China's household and property economy.
The calls that failed—or arrived early
The record was not clean. Our Brent base case was invalidated by renewed geopolitical stress. Our first attempt to identify Meta as an asymmetric megacap haven failed its opening proof test. We treated the memory stock cycle and the memory fundamental cycle too similarly: the equities became crowded and vulnerable while the underlying HBM/DRAM profit pool remained exceptionally strong.
Most importantly, we placed too much authority on timing. We expected the rough sequence to be:
hawkish squeeze → autumn correction → disinflation → liquidity turn → larger 2027 debt/AI-financing stress.
The market refused to wait. The sovereign-duration problem arrived early. Gold's next leg arrived early. Bitcoin's liquidity response arrived early. AI financing became a bond-market issue earlier than we expected. Energy inflation returned before the disinflation glide path had completed its work.
The processes we imagined as consecutive began overlapping.

The record was not clean. Renewed geopolitical stress invalidated the Brent base case. Meta failed the first proof test for an asymmetric megacap haven. The repair: mechanisms over dates
The lesson is not that timing is useless. It is that causal conditions must outrank calendar analogies. If a condition we expected in October appears in August, the forecast should move to August. If a stock peaks while its industry's profit cycle remains strong, we should stop pretending one "cycle" controls both. If policy begins changing market structure before the Fed changes the overnight rate, we should not wait for the official easing cycle to recognize the liquidity shift.
That is why this report is organized around regimes, triggers and reaction functions rather than a predetermined month-by-month path. Dates still matter when real information arrives—FOMC meetings, Treasury refundings, BOJ decisions, stablecoin implementation and earnings. The calendar no longer gets to overrule the evidence.

To understand why the current market feels internally contradictory, stop thinking of interest rates as something the Federal Reserve simply "sets." The Fed controls a very short-term policy rate. The market determines the price of lending money for ten, twenty or thirty years.
A long-term investor is accepting decades of inflation risk, fiscal risk, opportunity cost and uncertainty. When the supply of duration rises—or when buyers become less willing to hold it at the previous yield—the yield has to rise until the market clears.
The easiest way to visualize the current regime is as one giant auction for long-term capital. On one side are all the borrowers: Treasury, hyperscalers, utilities, data-center developers, power projects, ordinary corporations and mortgage borrowers. On the other side are pensions, insurers, banks, money-market funds, sovereign investors, households, foreign reserve managers and every other pool willing to hold a claim that matures years from now.
The yield is the clearing price.
The problem begins when that clearing price becomes high enough to damage the economy that created the borrowing demand in the first place. Mortgage rates rise. Corporate refinancing becomes more expensive. Government interest expense grows. Equity multiples compress. And the required return on new AI projects rises.

AI is becoming its own cost of capital
Artificial intelligence is usually described as software because the user interacts with models through software. Economically, the current AI boom is one of the most physical technology cycles in modern history. Training and running models requires accelerators; accelerators require memory; clusters require networking; racks require cooling and power distribution; buildings require transformers, land, substations, transmission and increasingly dedicated generation.
All of that requires capital before it produces output.
The early phase could be financed largely through the exceptional cash generation of the largest technology companies. As the scale grows, that is changing. Corporate borrowing grows. Project finance grows. Utilities need more capital. Infrastructure funds need more capital. The supply of corporate duration rises alongside sovereign duration.
The feedback loop is straightforward: AI demand drives more capex; more capex drives more financing; more financing increases duration supply; investors require more yield; higher yields raise AI hurdle rates; weak projects stop clearing those hurdle rates; capital discipline improves; and stronger operators gain share.

The same future profit is worth less when investors can earn a higher return elsewhere. That is why Nvidia can report extraordinary demand and still experience multiple compression if long yields rise. Why the long bond suddenly matters to equity investors
The same future profit is worth less when investors can earn a higher return elsewhere. That is why Nvidia can report extraordinary demand and still experience multiple compression if long yields rise. It is why a company can be fundamentally right and still be a bad stock at the wrong price.
This is also why the present regime is not automatically bearish for AI. Expensive money can strengthen the survivors. Weak projects are canceled. Duplicative capacity is delayed. Companies with genuine demand and internal financing keep investing. If real rates fall later, those survivors can enter the next phase with more infrastructure, less competition and visibly better economics.
That is the paradox we will return to in 2027: successfully surviving the hard-money phase can create the conditions for a much larger final boom.
4Dalio, Treasury, and the policy trap达利欧、财政部与政策困局
Ray Dalio's recent work on late debt cycles is useful because it focuses on the mechanism rather than the headline level of debt. A government can carry enormous debt for a long time as long as buyers willingly absorb it at an acceptable yield. The critical transition comes when the quantity of debt that must be sold rises faster than demand at the prevailing price.
Then the bond market clears through a higher yield.
At first, that is simply the market working. Higher yields attract new buyers and discipline speculative capital. The problem is that higher yields also raise the government's own borrowing cost. If enough debt must be refinanced, interest expense can begin compounding into the deficit that created the supply problem in the first place.
That is where policy choices become harder.

This distinction is essential. The current market is a warning about the price of capital, not evidence that private credit transmission has already broken. Broad high-yield spreads and VIX remain far calmer than a genuine term-premium accident should look.
Treasury has developed a reaction function
Treasury cannot repeal the bond market, but it can influence the composition and functioning of the market that produces the yield. It chooses how much borrowing is financed through bills versus notes and bonds. It can conduct buybacks that remove older securities. It can change auction composition and respond to demand across maturities. It can support liquidity and market functioning.
The recent enlargement of long-duration buybacks is therefore important—but not because a few billion dollars can overpower a market measured in tens of trillions. The announcement matters because Treasury revealed that sufficiently uncomfortable long-end conditions can change its behavior.
There is no official yield cap. The buybacks are not QE. Treasury still has to finance itself elsewhere. But investors now know that the long end has become part of the policy conversation.
The current market is a warning about the price of capital, not evidence that private credit transmission has already broken. Broad high-yield spreads and VIX remain far calmer than a genuine term-premium accident should look. It is not a claim that foreign investors have abandoned Treasuries. Larger long-duration buybacks matter less because their size can overpower a market measured in tens of trillions than because they reveal a behavioral threshold: sufficiently uncomfortable long-end conditions can change Treasury’s actions. It does not require an explicit yield cap. Inflation is the veto
The entire system turns on inflation because inflation determines how much freedom policymakers have. If inflation falls convincingly, the menu of solutions expands. The Fed can lower short rates; real yields can fall; Treasury financing becomes easier; corporate credit becomes cheaper; AI hurdle rates decline; and gold can rise through lower real rates without necessarily signaling fiscal panic.
If inflation remains too high, every option becomes more dangerous. Labor can weaken and still fail to produce cuts. Treasury can improve the plumbing and still see the currency weaken. Long rates can remain high because investors demand inflation compensation. Gold can even correct if the Fed responds by forcing real yields higher.
That is why the recent energy shock matters beyond crude itself. Refining, diesel, gasoline, utilities, shipping and food distribution can keep the price level uncomfortable even if oil never returns to its absolute wartime high.
The danger is an economy weak enough to want relief but inflationary enough to deny it.
That is the Inflation Veto.

The next question is whether the system can reduce long-end pressure without asking the Fed to solve everything directly. That is where stablecoins become far more important than a conventional crypto story suggests.

The hidden maturity trade
If stablecoins make the short end easier to finance, Treasury can lean more heavily on bills when long-duration demand is weak. That can reduce some marginal pressure on long-maturity issuance. But short debt has to be refinanced more often. The system trades long-duration market risk for greater sensitivity to the policy rate.
That matters because the government's interest burden becomes more responsive to short rates precisely as stablecoins make short financing more scalable. A larger bill market can therefore strengthen Treasury's financing flexibility today while increasing the economic value of lower short rates tomorrow.
The full loop is:
stablecoins grow → bill demand rises → Treasury gains more short-end capacity → marginal long-duration pressure can fall → federal duration shortens → refinancing sensitivity to Fed policy rises.
This is not free money. It is a maturity transformation.
EVIDENCE CHECK — NOT EVERY STABLECOIN DOLLAR IS NEW DEMAND If $100 moves from a money-market fund already holding Treasury bills into a stablecoin whose issuer buys Treasury bills, stablecoin market cap rises by $100 but net Treasury demand may barely change. The source of funds matters. Foreign/local-currency savings moving into a dollar stablecoin can be much more incremental than a reshuffle inside existing dollar cash products. [I]
Why stablecoins can strengthen the dollar without ending the debasement thesis
There is no contradiction between a larger global dollar network and a long-run concern about the real value of long-duration dollar claims. A resident of a country with a weaker currency may prefer a dollar stablecoin even if U.S. inflation remains above target. A global business may use stablecoins because trade is already dollarized. A crypto participant may want stablecoin liquidity regardless of a gold thesis.
The dollar can gain network share while investors simultaneously demand more compensation to hold 30 years of fixed nominal dollar exposure.
That distinction is central to the report. Demand for transactional dollars can be extremely strong at the same time long-duration dollar claims become more price-sensitive.
Treasury and crypto are becoming connected through collateral
Stablecoins also create a new bridge between conventional sovereign finance and crypto-native liquidity. Treasury bills back stablecoin reserves; stablecoins provide settlement liquidity inside digital-asset markets; growing digital-asset activity can increase demand for stablecoins; and stablecoin growth can increase demand for bills.
Bitcoin remains economically outside that reserve loop. Bitcoin is not backed by Treasury bills. But the liquidity system surrounding Bitcoin can increasingly rest on Treasury-backed digital dollars.
That makes the next crypto cycle more connected to U.S. sovereign collateral than previous cycles were—even if Bitcoin's monetary thesis remains intentionally separate.
Stablecoin bill demand is not equivalent to 30-year Treasury demand. The structure can trade long-duration market risk for greater sensitivity to short policy rates. 6AI after the easy money宽松资金之后的 AI
The first phase of the AI boom rewarded the company closest to scarcity. There were not enough accelerators, then not enough HBM, then not enough optical networking, power, cooling or transformer capacity. When demand runs into a hard bottleneck, the economics are easy: the scarce supplier wins.
That phase is becoming less forgiving.
AI demand remains enormous, but the market is beginning to ask a different question:
How much durable cash flow does each additional dollar of AI investment actually create?
Revenue growth is no longer enough. Two companies can each generate $10 billion of new AI revenue and deserve completely different valuations if one spent $8 billion to create it and the other spent $40 billion, issued debt, diluted shareholders and still has uncertain utilization.
This is the transition from AI exposure to AI capital efficiency.

Microsoft: the cleanest cash-flow bridge
Microsoft illustrates why high capex is not automatically a problem. Its AI infrastructure plugs into an enterprise distribution machine that already knows how to charge customers: Azure, Microsoft 365, Copilot and long-duration contracts. The company can spend enormous amounts and still give investors a visible route from compute investment to recurring revenue.
That does not prove every dollar of capex earns an adequate return. It means the cash-flow bridge is visible.
Meta: strategic value is not the same as printed proof
Meta may ultimately own enormously valuable AI infrastructure, but the monetization path is less direct. Better recommendations, ads, assistants and future compute products can all create value, yet shareholders are funding the buildout before the market has a clean way to measure the return.
That is why our earlier "asymmetric haven" thesis failed its first evidence test. AI optionality was promoted into AI proof too early.
The repair is simple: Meta can still become one of the cycle's largest winners, but the classification must follow evidence—compute revenue, a contracted backlog, measurable subscription economics, or other disclosures that make the cash bridge visible.
Alphabet: vertical integration has to earn its keep
Google's custom silicon and full-stack control can become a major economic advantage. A company that owns the model, distribution, cloud and accelerators has more ways to optimize cost than a company buying every layer from outside suppliers.
But vertical integration can also encourage overinvestment. The question is not whether TPUs are technically good; it is whether the integrated system creates enough economic advantage to justify the capital it absorbs.
That answer will increasingly show up in cloud margins, inference economics and free cash flow.
Nvidia: great company, separate valuation clock
Nvidia remains the clearest supplier beneficiary of compute demand. But extraordinary fundamentals do not repeal the discount rate. The stock can report excellent demand and still trade poorly if long yields force investors to pay less for distant profits.
That gives Nvidia two separate clocks:
AI demand and duration valuation.
The first can remain excellent while the second produces a correction.
The infrastructure trade still survives
Capital discipline does not invalidate the physical-AI thesis. In some ways it strengthens it. A transformer, cooling or networking supplier does not need to know which consumer AI assistant eventually wins. It needs the data center to be built.
That makes much of the physical stack economically shorter-duration than the most speculative application layer.
The risk is no longer "AI stops." The risk is which approved projects still clear a higher hurdle rate.
Existing cloud distribution converts AI infrastructure into identifiable revenue. The question is ROI at scale, not whether customers exist.
Custom silicon can improve economics, but capital absorption has to prove that advantage in margins and FCF.
Strategic AI value remains plausible; the direct monetization bridge remains less visible than the infrastructure spend.
Demand can remain extraordinary while the equity multiple compresses under a higher required return.
Expensive money can make the final AI winners stronger
Higher capital costs are not necessarily terminal for AI. Cheap money allows weak projects to survive, duplication to proliferate and narrative to outrank economics. Expensive money cancels poor projects and forces the strongest operators to prove demand.
If the system navigates 2026 without a credit accident, the survivors can enter 2027 with more infrastructure, less competition and clearer monetization. If real financing costs then fall, the same discipline that hurts weak projects today can create a much stronger final boom.
That is why the current scare can be both corrective and ultimately bullish.

United States: dispersion before liquidation
The U.S. equity market is fragile in a very specific way. Semiconductors and other long-duration growth assets have become increasingly sensitive to Treasury yields, but broad credit and volatility still look far calmer than a systemic deleveraging event should look.
That is why our base case remains dispersion before liquidation. A 5–10% index correction does not require recession or a credit crisis; it can emerge simply because higher real yields force investors to pay less for future earnings. The useful question is whether the weakness spreads from expensive leadership into credit, breadth and persistent volatility.
If it does not, the correction is a selection event. Current cash flow, self-financed AI, physical infrastructure and nominal beneficiaries should fare better than externally financed optionality.
Hong Kong and mainland China are different markets
Hong Kong technology can benefit from a weaker dollar, global liquidity and AI re-rating even while China's household and property economy remains weak. Alibaba's large equity raise makes the next-stage issue explicit: good AI strategy can still be a bad stock outcome if shareholders finance the future through heavy dilution.
Mainland China, meanwhile, contains at least two different economic cycles. The property/household economy remains a drag on consumption, local finances and confidence. Strategic manufacturing—semiconductors, robotics, automation, grid equipment and other state-prioritized sectors—can remain strong at the same time.
The right question is no longer "China bullish or bearish?" It is which balance sheet is connected to which capital cycle.

The yen is the second channel. If the BOJ remains comparatively restrictive while U.S. real-rate expectations soften, the rate differential narrows and the yen can strengthen. That makes yen-funded carry trades less attractive and can force leverage to unwind.
This can produce an apparently contradictory tape: the dollar weakens, gold rises, U.S. rate expectations improve—and global equities still sell off because the funding structure is deleveraging.

Why gold moved before the Fed
Our earlier model expected the durable next gold leg to require a cleaner path toward falling real yields and eventual Fed easing. Instead, gold accelerated while long yields were still high.
That tells us the market added another variable: uncertainty over how the duration problem will ultimately be resolved.
A high yield produced by strong growth and credible real compensation should be a headwind to gold. A high yield produced partly by rising fiscal or duration risk can coexist with strong gold. The nominal rate can look identical while the message inside it is different.
This is why gold is the cleanest signal asset in the report. It does not need to know whether the eventual adjustment is lower spending, higher taxes, shorter debt maturity, a weaker dollar or easier monetary policy. It benefits when the distribution of outcomes becomes less friendly to long-duration nominal claims.
But structural conviction does not make every entry good. If inflation forces real yields and the dollar higher again, gold can correct sharply.
Bitcoin's liquidity clock outran the calendar
Bitcoin is where our old timing framework changed the most. The historical four-year cycle pointed toward a later-2026 trough. The liquidity regime moved first.
That does not mean the cycle calendar is useless. It means it is no longer the dominant clock.
We now rank Bitcoin's drivers roughly as:

- Treasury/Fed liquidity architecture
- Stablecoin liquidity
- ETF / institutional flows
- Historical cycle calendar
That hierarchy explains why Bitcoin can front-run a future easing architecture before the Fed actually cuts.
It also explains why Bitcoin is not the same hedge as gold. In a genuine liquidity accident, Bitcoin can fall extremely hard before the policy response that strengthens its long-run thesis arrives. Gold should generally stabilize earlier; Bitcoin should generally recover with more beta once liquidity returns.
Silver, platinum, palladium
Silver remains the higher-beta monetary expression: more upside in a benign easing environment, more downside in a liquidity shock.
Platinum and palladium should be separated from the generic precious-metals label. Platinum's structural supply-demand balance looks more attractive; palladium faces a more difficult long-run auto-demand backdrop. Our relative view remains platinum over palladium, while acknowledging palladium can still squeeze violently on supply disruptions.
Copper: a good thesis and a bad entry can coexist
Copper remains one of the strongest structural industrial stories in the portfolio. AI, grids, power generation, robotics, electrification and defense all pull on a slow-moving mine-supply base.
But acute physical squeezes can make a structurally scarce commodity a terrible short-term entry. The best copper opportunity may come after the market digests the scarcity event, not at the moment everyone finally agrees copper is scarce.
That distinction—structural thesis versus tactical entry—is another recurring lesson from the entire report.
Hard assets are not one trade. Gold measures confidence in nominal claims. Bitcoin measures liquidity-sensitive monetary optionality. Silver adds industrial beta. Platinum and palladium live on different physical balances. Copper is an electrification scarcity asset whose best entry may arrive after the squeeze.
The final task is to turn this diagnosis into a forecast that can actually change when the evidence changes.

Stress and reallocation
We still expect autumn to be a high-probability volatility window. The reasons are not mystical seasonality: heavy AI financing, policy uncertainty, energy risk, stretched leadership, Treasury supply and a labor market that may be weakening faster than headline growth.
What we are dropping is the belief that October itself must be the final low.
If by autumn real yields remain high, credit spreads are widening and breadth is deteriorating, the old "October low" concept can still land. If real yields are already falling, Treasury demand is improving and credit remains calm, the market may have front-run the transition.

The monetary transition
The first half of 2027 remains the cleanest window for a more conventional improvement in monetary conditions, but the mechanism is broader than "inflation falls, Fed cuts."
By then, the cumulative effect of high long yields, weaker labor, housing pressure, government refinancing sensitivity and corporate capital consumption may make the existing real-rate structure increasingly difficult to sustain. If inflation permits, the Fed can finally join the easing process that Treasury and market structure had already begun indirectly.
The sequence we would expect is:
hike expectations die → real yields peak → dollar softens → gold strengthens → Bitcoin's macro base improves → quality growth rerates → broader participation follows.
Parts of that sequence can begin before the actual first cut because markets price the expected architecture.

The AI return-on-capital test

For most of the last decade, investors could treat capital almost like background infrastructure. Rates moved, the Fed spoke, stocks reacted—but financing was cheap enough that the deepest question rarely had to be asked.
AI changes that because AI is becoming physical.
Physical AI requires factories, chips, memory, power plants, transmission lines, transformers, cooling systems, buildings and debt. The deeper the boom moves into the physical economy, the more it has to compete with every other borrower for capital.
That includes the U.S. government.
The market's answer to that competition is the long-term yield.
If the yield remains tolerable, the cycle continues. If it falls naturally, the next phase becomes easier. If policymakers successfully manage it without reigniting inflation, the cycle can become larger. If inflation prevents relief, weak demand has to be destroyed. If the yield rises far enough to enter credit, the system eventually responds with much larger tools.
That is the decision tree.
Why gold moved first
Gold does not need to know which policy wins. It benefits when the distribution of outcomes becomes less friendly to long-duration nominal claims.
The final adjustment could come through lower spending, higher taxes, shorter debt maturity, a weaker dollar, lower policy rates, regulation or eventually central-bank accommodation. Gold only needs uncertainty around that adjustment to rise.
That is why its move before conventional easing matters.
Why Bitcoin moved early
Bitcoin responded to a different part of the same architecture. Its liquidity clock changed before the old calendar expected it to: a softer dollar, Treasury-market stress, stablecoin architecture and future policy expectations altered the backdrop before the Fed had delivered a clean easing cycle.
That does not make Bitcoin a safe Treasury hedge.
It makes the old cycle calendar less authoritative.
Why AI is not over
AI demand did not disappear because long yields rose. The rules changed.
Scarcity alone is no longer enough. The next winners have to prove that they can convert capital into cash at a return above the new hurdle rate. That is healthier than indiscriminate enthusiasm—and far more difficult.
The first AI trade rewarded conviction.
The next one will reward discrimination.
Not AI or no AI.
Which AI?
Not China or no China.
Which Chinese balance sheet?
Not hard assets or dollars.
Which asset under which monetary regime?
Not October low or no October low.
What evidence says the liquidity transition has actually occurred?
And not will America go broke?
The United States issues the world's reserve currency and has enormous productive capacity. A simplistic sovereign-default analogy misses the mechanism.
The more useful question is:
What price will holders of that reserve currency demand to finance the next stage of American expansion—and what will policymakers do when that price becomes unacceptable?
That is the price of duration.
The next market cycle will be decided by whether the United States can finance both its sovereign debt and the AI buildout at a tolerable long-term yield without forcing the adjustment into inflation, the dollar, credit—or all three.

最终调整可以来自削减支出、提高税收、缩短债务期限、美元走弱、降低政策利率、监管,或最终的央行宽松。黄金上涨只需要围绕这种调整的不确定性上升。

同样,也不是美国会不会破产。
美国发行全球储备货币,也拥有庞大的生产能力。把它简单类比为普通主权违约,会错过真正的机制。
更有用的问题是:
储备货币持有人会要求什么价格,才愿意为美国下一阶段扩张融资?当这个价格变得不可接受时,政策制定者又会做什么?
这就是久期的价格。
下一个市场周期,将由美国能否以可承受的长期收益率同时为主权债务与 AI 建设融资,并避免把调整强行推入通胀、美元、信用——或三者同时——而决定。
