Orsted files for 2 GW offshore wind park in Taiwan
Orsted has filed early paperwork for c.2 GW offshore wind project in the Taiwan Strait. The project, known as Dadu 2 will be 38km off the coast of Changhua County and would ultimately connect to Taipower’s substation in Changua. The proposal calls for an array with between 91 and 143 turbines, with initial plans for jacket foundations. Source: Renewables Now
Germany opens consultation on Offshore grid plan
The German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) has launched the development of an infrastructure areas plan for new offshore grid connections. The plan designates routes, route corridors and platform locations for offshore grid connection lines. Authorities have until September 21, 2026, and the public until October 19, 2026, to submit comments on the draft. Source: Renews
Germany registers 1.8 GW of solar additions in July
Germany added an estimated 1.8 GW of net solar capacity (up from 1.36 GW in June), bringing the cumulative solar capacity to more than 127 GW. The country commissioned almost 328 MW of onshore wind and c.117 MW of offshore wind capacity. Authorities approved 2 GW of new onshore wind projects during the month. Source: RenewablesNow
Other news Vestas’ EnVentus onshore wind platform has surpassed 15 GW of installed capacity worldwide, with more than 2,500 turbines operating across 26 countries. According to the company, the platform also has more than 24 GW in firm orders. (Renews)
UK Datacenter: An application has been filed for a 180 MW datacenter in East London. The total investment is estimated to be c. $1.4 bn. Construction could start in 2027/2028 and be completed as soon as 2028/2029. (Datacenterdynamics)
